KUWAIT CITY: A sigh of relief, civil servants, were in for a pleasant surprise. The cabinet, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, announced a special 2-day holiday on February 25 and 26 to mark the 65th National Day and 35th Independence Day.
The Kuwaiti government has declared a 2-day public holiday to mark the country’s National Day and Independence Day, effectively giving civil servants a 4-day long weekend.
The announcement came shortly after the weekly cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah. The public holiday falls on Wednesday, February 25, and Thursday, February 26, during which all government ministries, institutions, educational institutions and public offices will be completely closed.
With Kuwait’s general weekend on Friday and Saturday, this means civil servants will enjoy a 4-day break in a row, and work will only resume on Sunday, March 1.
Essential services such as security, health and other key sectors will remain operational to ensure that public services continue without disruption. These institutions will manage their own holiday schedules to maintain smooth operations. The holidays mark Kuwait’s 65th National Day and 35th Independence Day, milestones that mark the country’s proud history and independence.
