LONDON: Two MPs were ejected from the House of Commons for calling Prime Minister Keir Starmer a ‘liar’ during a meeting, while one member was also suspended.
According to reports, Lee Anderson and Zara Sultana accused the Prime Minister of lying in a statement regarding the appointment of former British Ambassador Peter Middleton. The Speaker intervened and asked him to retract his words, but both members refused.
Lee Anderson was immediately ejected from the House, while Zara Sultana also continued to strongly criticize the Prime Minister, after which a resolution to suspend him was passed.
It should be noted that, according to the rules of the British Parliament, no member is allowed to accuse another member of lying, and such action has come to light for the first time since 2022.
