WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has said that the United States is closely monitoring the ongoing protests and violence against the people in Iran.

The US President said that if there is a massacre against the people in Iran, the United States will intervene, however, he clarified that this does not mean military action in Iran.

Trump said that the Iranian government has been mistreating its people for years and now the Iranian people are responding. According to Time magazine, 217 people have been killed so far during the violent protests in Iran.

He described the current situation in Iran as very critical and said that some cities are occupied by the people and the government’s grip has weakened.

In addition, the US President, mentioning Pakistan-India relations and previous war situations, said that the United States has stopped 8 wars, including those between Pakistan and India, and 8 planes were shot down in the Pakistan-India conflict, due to which 10 million lives were saved, according to the Pakistani Prime Minister.

He emphasized America’s responsibility for the safety and stability of human lives and said that they are constantly monitoring the situation so that they can respond quickly to any humanitarian crisis.
