Ubisoft co-founder Claude Guillemot dies in plane crash

PARIS: Claude Guillemot, co-founder of the world’s leading video game company Ubisoft, has died in a tragic plane crash.

According to French authorities, the accident occurred on the western coast of France when a small twin-engine Cessna 421 plane was undergoing landing. The plane crashed near La Baule Airport, located near the Atlantic coast. At the time of the accident, Claude Guillemot and a trainee pilot were on board the plane, both of whom died on the spot.

Local mayor Franck Louvrier told the media that both Claude Guillemot and the pilot were experienced and regularly licensed pilots. According to initial reports, the causes of the accident could not be immediately revealed, however, French authorities have launched a full investigation into the incident.

Ubisoft management has also confirmed the death of Claude Guillemot and expressed deep sorrow and regret. The company did not release further details, but condolences from the gaming community have continued to pour in.

Claude Guillemot founded Ubisoft in 1986 with his four brothers. The company created world-renowned games like Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance, Remain and Tom Clancy’s, which revolutionized the video game industry.
