US Army Chief of Staff General Randy George removed from office

WASHINGTON:  US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has removed Army Chief of Staff General Randy George from his post.

According to US media, the Secretary of War is looking for an Army Chief who can effectively implement President Donald Trump’s vision in military affairs.

General Randy George previously served as a senior military assistant under former Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. He also participated in the first Gulf War, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

It should be noted that the term of office of the Army Chief of Staff in the United States is usually four years. General Randy George was confirmed by the Senate in 2023 and was to hold this position until 2027.

Meanwhile, Vice Chief of Staff General Christopher Lanyu, who has also been the military aide to the Secretary of War, will assume the responsibilities of the acting Army Chief of Staff.
