War between Pakistan & India nearly broke out: President Trump

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump says he saved the region from a major crisis by preventing a new war between Pakistan and India this year.

President Trump included the incident among the eight global conflicts that he said he had “brought back from the brink of disaster.”

During a joint meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the Oval Office of the White House, Trump said that he had played an important role in stopping fighting in many regions of the world. He especially counted the crisis in South Asia among his major achievements.

According to Trump, tensions between Pakistan and India had once again escalated to dangerous levels and if he had not “intervened at the right time,” a serious conflict could have occurred. He said that the two countries were now moving forward in a “better way.”

It should be noted that severe military tensions arose between the two countries after an attack on tourists in occupied Kashmir in May 2025. The attack killed 26 people, which India blamed on Pakistan, but Islamabad rejected the accusation and demanded an impartial investigation.

Pakistan shot down Indian fighter jets and several drones in the four-day clashes, after which a ceasefire was agreed on May 10. The tension ended due to the American role.

However, Trump’s recent statement has also made it clear that India was weighing up another adventure against Pakistan, which the US President intervened and stopped.
