ISLAMABAD: In a recent development, the chicken prices in the federal capital and adjoining areas, including Rawalpindi, witnessed a sharp surge of rupees 45 in one day.
Earlier, on Monday, the chicken was being sold at Rs 405, but according to the local customers, the vendors were selling the chicken at Rs 450 on Tuesday morning, stating that the chicken prices increased significantly overnight.
Additionally, the price of chicken meat had increased even more, showing a Rs 60 jump in one day; the price of chicken meat jumped from its price on Monday of Rs 720 to Rs 780 on Tuesday.
The customers also expressed that the chicken vendors set the prices in the morning even before the DC rate lists were issued, which are usually given around 11 AM; the chicken vendors opened the shops earlier so that they can set independently on the prices they decided to sell at.
The customers complained that, with the lack of accountability and oversight, exorbitant prices are being charged, even with the government‘s position of managing inflation.
