CM Punjab Maryam approves 10pc salaries hike of govt employees

Pakistan budget to provide relief to salaried class & businesses

LAHORE: Following the relief from the federal government, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has also approved the proposal for an increase of 10 percent in salaries of the government employees in the provincial budget for the next fiscal year 2025-26.

Earlier, the federal government proposed an increase in the salaries of federal employees (Grade-1 to Grade-22) by 10 percent, while the retired government servants will be eligible for a 7pc pension raise in light of the budget for the next financial year.

In line with the federal government, the chief minister also approved the 7 percent increase in pensions of the retired provincial government employees.

The Finance Department will place it before the provincial cabinet for its approval during the meeting, convened at 11:00 AM on June 13.

As per the government, the Punjab government has drafted the budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, and the chief minister has rejected proposals to impose a new tax.

According to sources, the government has proposed to allocate over Rs1,100 billion for the development scheme.

As many as Rs1076 billion, to be spent on 2,750 development schemes, will be generated from local funding, while Rs124.30 billion will come from foreign funding.

Sources have informed that there is a proposal to earmark Rs100 billion for the Punjab chief minister’s local road programme block.
