According to the details, a significant increase of Rs 1,500 per maund has been recorded in the price of cotton, after which the new price of cotton has reached the level of Rs 19,500 per maund.
After the recent increase, market sources say that in the last two weeks alone, the price of cotton has increased by a total of Rs 3,000 per maund.
On the other hand, due to this rapid increase in prices, there is a fear of increasing the cost burden on the textile sector and related industries.
Cotton sector stakeholders say that in view of the increasing demand for local cotton, there is a possibility of increasing cotton cultivation during the cotton year 2026-27.
The Chairman of the Cotton Ginners Forum says that the suspension of cotton imports due to the Gulf War, the unexpected drop in temperatures in cotton zones across the country, and the suspension of cotton cultivation due to light rains have led to a trend of increasing cotton and sliver prices in Pakistan for the past two weeks.
