ISLAMABAD: The Governor of the State Bank has informed about the details of the new currency notes.
In a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance in Islamabad, he said that new designs of all notes from Rs 10 to Rs 5,000 have been prepared.
The Governor of the State Bank said that proposals in this regard have been sent to the Ministry of Finance. On this occasion, he clarified that no proposal to abolish the Rs 5,000 note is being considered.
He said that the central bank has done detailed work on the new notes, after which the matter has been sent to the federal cabinet after getting approval from the State Bank Board.
The Governor of the State Bank said that modern security features have been added to the new notes to make it possible to prevent counterfeit currency, he said that the final decision regarding the new notes has to be taken by the federal cabinet.
