Diesel price cut announced

Government notifies new petrol prices nationwide

NAIROBI: Following public protests against rising inflation and high fuel prices, the Kenyan government has taken a major decision and announced a reduction in diesel prices.

The government’s move is being described as an attempt to provide relief to the public and reduce inflationary pressures.

According to details, President William Ruto announced in his televised address that the government will reduce the price of diesel by 10 Kenyan shillings in the new round of prices for June and July. The decision is aimed at reducing public hardship and reducing the effects of inflation.

According to government sources, the decision came after the recent protests and public transport strike, where there was a strong public reaction against the rising fuel prices.

The protests affected normal life in different parts of the country, while reports of deaths and injuries also emerged.

President William Ruto said the government has taken various measures to ensure a continuous supply of fuel and billions of Kenyan shillings have been spent, including tax relief, to reduce the burden of prices.

According to economists, fuel prices have increased in many countries due to global crude oil supply problems and tensions in the Middle East, which have had an impact on various economies, including Kenya.

Analysts say that the reduction in the price of diesel could create opportunities to reduce the cost of transport and essential goods, which could provide some relief to ordinary citizens, however, its full impact on inflation will be clear in the coming months.
