ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Thursday allowed Azerbaijani registered vehicles to carry transit and bilateral trade goods in Pakistan.
The FBR on Thursday issued an SRO.25(I)/2025 to notify the Azerbaijan-Pakistan Transit Trade Rules 2024 for processing of transit trade cargo through specified ports under the Customs Computerized System under the Azerbaijan-Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement 2024.
This will cover Azerbaijani cargo imported through Karachi Port, Port Muhammad Bin Qasim and Gwadar Port and Azerbaijani cargo exported to other countries through Karachi Port, Port Muhammad Bin Qasim and Gwadar Port.
The rules reveal that Azerbaijani registered vehicles having valid permits and being used for transit and bilateral trade cargo transportation will enter Pakistan without the need to deposit any financial security for the duties and taxes levied on the vehicles. As agreed by both the contracting parties (Azerbaijan and Pakistan).
The rules state that all transport operators and customs clearing agents handling transit goods will be required to open and maintain a “Revolving Insurance Guarantee PD Account” with Customs.
Under the new rules, the Directorate General Reforms and Automation, Karachi will generate one or more User IDs.
