ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan has started working on a unique and revolutionary solar scheme to address the energy crisis and provide affordable electricity to citizens.
Under this scheme, people living in flats will also be able to get the benefits of solar energy.
According to the details, under the proposed solar wheeling policy, citizens will be able to install solar systems in their native villages or any available land and transfer the credit of the electricity generated there to the electricity bill of their house or flat in their city.
This initiative will especially benefit those people who live in apartments or houses where it is not possible to install solar panels due to limited roof space.
Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Trade President Usman Shaukat, while talking to a private news channel, said that a comprehensive policy is being prepared on the instructions of the Prime Minister, through which a regular solar wheeling system will be introduced in the country.
According to him, under this project, the electricity generated from solar plants will be connected to the national grid through net metering and consumers will be able to benefit directly from it in their electricity bills.
Usman Shaukat said that solar wheeling is being used as a successful model in many developed countries of the world, where citizens meet the electricity needs of their homes and offices with solar plants installed in remote locations.
The implementation of this system in Pakistan will also help in the promotion of renewable energy and will provide significant relief to consumers troubled by expensive electricity.
Energy experts say that this project will not only promote the use of solar energy in urban areas but will also play an important role in reducing pressure on the national grid, reducing fuel imports and promoting environmentally friendly energy.
