Govt announces 7% relief allowance for employees

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has approved a 7% ad hoc relief allowance for government employees.

According to a notification issued by the Balochistan Finance Department, regular government employees from Grade 1 to Grade 22 will benefit from this relief under the decision.

According to the announcement, the ad hoc relief allowance will be implemented from July 1, 2026. The allowance will be paid on the basis of the running basic salary of the employees, meaning that each employee will get an additional 7% amount according to the current basic salary.

The announcement of the Finance Department has clarified that the ad hoc relief allowance will be subject to income tax, income tax will be deducted from the amount of the allowance as per applicable laws, however, this allowance will not be considered part of the permanent basic salary and the payment will be as per the rules issued.

According to the notification, the 7 percent ad hoc relief allowance will not be included in the calculation of pension and gratuity. This benefit will not be considered as part of the basic salary while determining the pension, gratuity or other dues of the employee on the occasion of retirement.

The Finance Department has clarified that the ad hoc relief allowance will not be paid to the employee during the extraordinary leave. The allowance will be paid as per the rules after the leave ends and the employee resumes duty.

After the decision of the provincial government, the relevant departments and institutions will have to implement the new instructions. During the preparation of salaries, the employee’s grade, running basic salary, tax liabilities and the nature of the leave will be taken into account so that the payment of the allowance can be ensured as per the conditions mentioned in the notification.
