Govt increases high-octane fuel levy to Rs 300

Petrol, diesel hit Rs500 per litre in Balochistan

ISLAMABAD:  It has been decided to increase the levy on high-octane fuel used in luxury vehicles from Rs 100 to Rs 300.

In a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif via video link, it was decided to increase the levy on high-octane fuel.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s House, the prices of fuel used in ordinary vehicles used by the lower and middle classes have not been increased and only the price of high-octane fuel used in luxury vehicles has been increased.

According to the statement, regular petrol will be available at the old price and this decision will not increase the fares of public transport and aircraft.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the decision will save the government Rs 9 billion per month, which will provide relief to the people.
