ISLAMABAD: Details of tax collection in the current prices of petrol and diesel have been revealed.
According to sources in the Petroleum Division, the current prices of petrol and diesel include about 29 percent tax. A total of Rs 88.7 paise tax is being collected on one liter of petrol.
The price of petrol includes Rs 19.32 paise customs duty, Rs 66.25 paise petroleum levy and Rs 2.50 paise climate support levy.
According to sources, the price of diesel per liter includes Rs 91.15 paise tax. Which includes Rs 15.68 paise customs duty, Rs 72.97 paise petroleum levy and Rs 2.50 paise climate support levy.
It should be noted that two days ago, the government had announced a reduction in the price of petrol by Rs 74.28 per liter and the price of high-speed diesel by Rs 67.31 per liter. After the reduction, the new price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 299.50 per liter while the price of diesel has been fixed at Rs 311.47 per liter.
