Petrol prices likely to rise again from August 16

ISLAMABAD: In a welcome move, the federal government is poised to announce a substantial reduction in petrol and diesel prices from September 16, 2024, amidst a declining inflation rate and global oil prices.

According to reports, petrol, and high-speed diesel prices are likely to plummet by Rs12 per litre each, while kerosene oil rates will drop by Rs8 per litre.

The final decision on the price decrease will be made after monitoring international market fluctuations from September 12 to 14. The government is expected to unveil the new petrol prices on September 15, with the revised rates taking effect from September 16.

The government’s decision to pass on the benefits of lower global oil prices to consumers is a positive step towards mitigating the impact of inflation on the common man.
