ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has denied reports that petrol prices have increased by Rs 73 to Rs 394.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has strongly denied the news circulating on social media claiming that petrol prices are being increased again.
The OGRA spokesperson has clarified that no summary of the increase in petrol prices by Rs 73.40 and diesel by Rs 84.95 per liter has been sent to the Prime Minister’s House.
He appealed to the public not to pay attention to these false and fabricated news going viral on social media, as such rumors are being deliberately spread to spread excitement and anxiety in the society.
This denial comes at a time when crude oil prices are being seen increasing globally due to the ongoing war in the Middle East.
Pakistan imports 60 percent of its petrol requirements, due to which changes in the international market have a direct impact on local prices.
It should be noted that last Friday, the government had increased the prices of petrol and diesel by a record Rs 55 per liter due to pressure from the global market, after which petrol has reached Rs 321.17 and diesel Rs 335.86.
Officials say that prices are determined under regular government procedures and any decision in this regard will be communicated only through official sources.
