Oil, ghee prices increase despite reduction in petrol prices

Oil, ghee prices increase despite reduction in petrol prices

LAHORE: The monopoly of oil and ghee mill owners, justifying the price of fuel, increased prices by a large amount. Even after the price of fuel came down, the price of first- and second-grade ghee and oil could not be reduced.

Before the increase in fuel prices, the price of first-grade ghee and oil was Rs 560 per kg. The current price of first grade oil and ghee is Rs 610.

Using the fuel price as an excuse, the price of first-grade ghee was increased by Rs 50 per kg, and the price of first-grade oil was also increased by Rs 50 per liter.

President of Kirana Merchants Saqlain Butt said that the price of ghee and oil was increased by Rs 30 per kg in view of the increase in the price of petrol.

The current price of second-class ghee and oil is Rs 550 per kg. Despite a major reduction in the price of petroleum products, the price of oil and ghee has not been reduced.

He demanded that the federal and provincial governments be appealed to end the monopoly of mill owners. Also read: Bad news for those with large sums of money in banks.

On the other hand, despite the reduction in LPG rates in Lahore, citizens could not get relief. Due to low pressure and a shortage of Sui gas, the demand for LPG has increased, while the gas has started being sold in black.

According to the official rate, the price of LPG is fixed at Rs 241 per kg; however, citizens have to buy the same gas for Rs 350 to 380 per kg. Citizens say that they also pay heavy bills for Sui Gas and, on the other hand, are forced to buy LPG at high prices; the white-clad class is facing difficulties, and no one is being heard.

Citizens have demanded that effective steps be taken to make LPG available at the official rate and that illegal profiteering be put to an end.
