Panda bonds to be launched by June 2025: Finance Minister Aurangzeb

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb says Pakistan plans to launch Panda Bonds by June this year with the aim of increasing the country’s presence in China’s capital markets.

In an interview with an international news channel, he said that Pakistan plans to raise about US$200 million from Chinese investors through the Panda Bond issuance.

The minister stressed that the move is part of a broader strategy to shift Pakistan’s economy towards export-led growth, with a focus on achieving sustainability in the country’s balance of payments.

He also highlighted the critical importance of the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Muhammad Aurangzeb said that the second phase of CPEC will attract more Chinese companies and also open avenues for increased investment.

He invited Hong Kong to send delegations to explore trade and financial opportunities in Pakistan.

The finance minister said that Hong Kong could serve as a strategic hub for joint ventures between Chinese and Pakistani companies.
