Peshawar BRT ZU card receives new hike amid inflation

PESHAWAR: In a recent move, the  Trans Peshawar, the company responsible for the BRT ZU cards, has caused concern among commuters in Peshawar by rising the price of the card by Rs 100.

For those that are not cognizant of the ZU Card, this smart card is reusable and allows passengers to pay their fare on Peshawar’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.

Basically, it works as a digital wallet, allowing the user to pay on secure grounds. The user can put money in their account online or in person, and registered cards are balanced-protected. BRT ZU cards from Peshawar can accommodate multiple products for fare, in accordance with individual travel needs.

Using the ZU Card is simple: As the passengers board the bus, they tap their cards on the blue or green smart card target on the farebox. The payment will be acknowledged by a single “ding,” whereas a double tone will indicate an issue, for example, insufficient fare. Included within this package is a handy provision for a transfer within ninety minutes, activated automatically upon payment.

Basically, the ZU card was initially introduced free of charge. At present, however, it’s available for sale at BRT terminals, ZU Stations, or Ticket Vending Machines, priced at Rs 400.

BRT ZU card Price Update

As of recent update after December 20, 2024, the new price of the BRT ZU card is increased by  Rs. 400, and Rs. 100. Now people will yet face more problems with commuting with regular harsh experimental inflation hitting them with no relent.

For those who are a bit savvy with their cash, the ZU Mobile App offers them the option of going cashless. Users can load money into their virtual wallets for fare payments, and the app also offers notifications on delays, station closures, bus arrival times, and proximity to other stations.
