ISLAMABAD: The prices of petrol and diesel are expected to decrease in Pakistan over the next fortnight, starting from August 1, 2025, as the prices have dipped in the global market.
According to a note by Arif Habib Limited (AHL), a securities brokerage firm, the decline is expected to be Rs 6.82 per liter for petrol/Motor Spirit (MS) and Rs 1.68 per liter for High-Speed Diesel (HSD).
The report stated that the federal government is expected to provide relief after mutilpe hikes over the past couple of months.
According to the report, the average price of Brent oil for the period 16th to 31st July 2025 was recorded at $68.75 per barrel, while WTI averaged $65.98 per barrel.
Additionally, the exchange rate stood at Rs284.25 per USD for this period, reflecting a slight change of 0.1% from the previous period.
Current Petrol Prices in Pakistan
As of July 2025, the federal government has fixed the petrol price at Rs. 272.15 per liter and diesel at Rs284.35.
On July 16, the government raised petrol prices for the next two weeks by Rs 5.36 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs 11.37 per litre.
The new prices will be annoucned after a summary outlining the suggested price revisions will be submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday.
