PIA employees to receive 25% hike in salaries

ISLAMABAD: In a ground breaking move, the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) employees are set to receive a significant pay hike of 25% in salaries authorized by the federal government.

According to a private media report, the Privatization Commission formally announced the increase for the officials and staff members of PIA on Thursday.

This increase aims to support the PIA staff in situation of increasing inflation rate of Pakistan. In another development, PIA intends to add eight more planes to its fleet the following year according to PIA CEO Khurram Mushtaq.

The announcement came during the National Assembly Standing Committee on Aviation meeting, chaired by MNA Nawabzada Iftikhar Ahmed Khan Babar, at Islamabad International Airport on Monday.

The new aircraft will include wide-body Boeing 777 planes and will primarily cater to long-haul routes. This is expected to improve the capabilities of this airline in serving its customers.
