RAWALPINDI: A severe flour crisis has arisen before Ramadan, the Nanbai Association says that if prices increase, they will be forced to increase the price of bread.
According to details, the shortage of flour before Ramadan in Rawalpindi has put the Nanbais in serious trouble.
The Nanbai Association said that an 80 kg sack of fine flour has reached Rs 12,800, while an 80 kg sack of red flour has become expensive by Rs 11,500, which includes an increase of Rs 1,200 to 1,800 per sack.
The Nanbais say that due to the shortage of government flour, they are also facing difficulties in business and if prices increase, they will be forced to increase the price of bread.
The association has demanded that the federal and Punjab governments take immediate steps and make flour available at cheap prices.
The Nanbai Association has called an emergency meeting of the entire Rawalpindi division and warned that if the government does not show seriousness, they will be forced to shutter down.
He made it clear that the Punjab government should take strict measures against the flour mafia instead of taking action against tandoor owners.
