ABU DHABI: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has revealed a 50% toll tax rise, also called the “Salik” fee, to be applied to commuters passing through toll booths in Dubai.
As per the modified policy, the toll rate during peak hours—6 am to 10 am and 4 pm to 8 pm—will be 6 dirhams (around 456 Pakistani rupees).
The toll cost will stay constant at 4 dirhams (about 304 Pakistani rupees) throughout off-peak times and weekends. The RTA has also adjusted the toll fee timings for the month of Ramadan.
The RTA has also released new public parking charges in Dubai in conjunction with the toll fee raise. Parking costs in event areas will be 25 dirhams (about 1898 Pakistani rupees) per hour during big events close to the Dubai World Trade Center.
General parking charges will stay at 4 dirhams (about 304 Pakistani rupees) and in high-demand areas they will be 6 dirhams (about 456 Pakistani rupees) hourly.
The RTA &’s initiatives to make travel safer and more seamless for Dubai residents include upgrading public transportation systems and roadwork throughout the emirate.
