LAHORE: Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance has announced a 4 percent increase in goods transport fares after the increase in petroleum product prices.
Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance President Malik Shahzad Awan condemned the increase in diesel prices and said that the increase in fares has become inevitable due to the federal government’s decision.
He said that every Pakistani is affected by the increase in petroleum product prices. The federal government and the Punjab government want to put transporters on a wall.
Malik Shahzad Awan said that during the recent strike, the government had assured a reduction in petroleum product prices. However, this was not being implemented.
He said that during the strike, agreements were reached with the federal government and the Punjab government on several issues. But these agreements have not been implemented yet.
Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance President warned that if the agreements are not implemented, they will be forced to go on a nationwide strike again. The entire responsibility for which will fall on the federal government and the Punjab government.
On the other hand, transporters have also increased the fares of self-made buses. It should be noted that the federal government has increased the price of high-speed diesel by Rs 11.30 per liter.
After which the new price of diesel has been fixed at Rs 268.38 per liter. While the price of petrol per liter has been maintained at Rs 253.17 for the next 15 days.
