LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has sanctioned a special package with different educational relief features, such as waiving fees, for students affected by floods in the province.
The program is aimed at providing relief to students and their families affected by floods and maintaining their education uninterrupted.
First Semester Fee Waived
The chief minister has declared a waiver of one semester’s tuition fee for all students from the flood-affected areas.
Admission Fee Waiver for BS Student
According to the package, first-year BS students of flood-affected districts will be exempt from their admission fees.
Moreover, students of Muzaffargarh, Multan, Lodhran, Vehari, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Chiniot, and Kasur districts will also be exempt from their first-year fees.
University Registration Date Extended
The provincial administration has also made a decision to give extra time for the registration of universities within the affected regions has been given an extra 20 days, giving students extra time to finalize their admissions.
Update Punjab Honhaar Scholarship
The extension in the last date for submission of forms for the “Honhaar Scholarship” has also been granted one month’s extra time.
CM Maryam Nawaz underlined the need not to allow the recent tragedy to affect the education of young children, vowing to help them get through this challenging time.
“We are determined that education for children and youth in the affected areas will not be disrupted. This package will alleviate the financial strain on the affected families and provide students with an opportunity to continue their studies,” Maryam Nawaz said.
The Chief Minister also guaranteed that the government’s endeavors would continue to speed up the recovery of the flood victims, with special focus on restoring educational activities in the affected regions.
This program is just a part of the Punjab government’s overall efforts to reduce the effects of the catastrophic floods and to help the province recover in the long run.
