TOKYO: The Japanese government has announced a Scholarship for 2026, aimed at Pakistani educators who wish to conduct inquiry-based research in school education in Japan. The grant is a ticket to participate in a non-degree teachers’ training and research program at a Japanese university for the chosen fellows.
A certificate will be awarded to those who pass the training. The session is not for undergraduates, postgraduates, or doctoral students but solely for professional training and research in the primary education sector.
The grant is made available by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) of Japan. According to the statement, the program typically begins in October, and Japanese language instruction is provided at the start of the academic year, as many courses and research supervision are conducted in Japanese.
To qualify, a person must be born on or after April 2, 1991, possess university or teacher-training qualifications, and have a minimum of five years’ experience in teaching at primary or secondary levels, or in a teacher-training institution, by October 1, 2026.
Applications from university staff will not be accepted. Those who apply must also prove their mental and emotional maturity to live and study in a foreign culture for about 18 months and show their readiness to learn Japanese.
