Lahore Board bans sharing of past exam papers on social media

Lahore Board bans sharing of past exam papers on social media

LAHORE: The Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) has imposed a ban on sharing past Matric and Intermediate exam papers on social media platforms.

This decision was made in response to concerns that past exam papers were being widely shared on WhatsApp groups and other online platforms by both public and private school teachers.

The board pointed out that those who post past papers or guess papers online would be dealt with under the PECA Act, including fines, as well as imprisonment.

The notification issued by the Controller of Examination stated that heads of all educational institutions had already been tasked with this matter.

The board clearly stated that strict action would be taken against the illegal sharing of past paper material. It justified this by arguing that sharing was undermining the examination system, which had to be safeguarded from any wrongdoing.

In fact, violating the memorandum discussing the matter could result in either a prison sentence of up to three years and fines of Rs50,000, for anyone found posting old papers.
