PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has officially issued new working hours for government schools across the province.
According to the notification issued, primary schools will open at 7:30 am and close at 1:35 pm.
Under the new schedule, moral education, speeches on various topics, and practical activities of students have been made mandatory in the school assembly.
Provincial Education Minister Arshad Ayub Khan has issued instructions that moral education should be given to students through speeches on three days a week, while training should be provided through dramatic sketches on the remaining three days.
In addition, school heads have been instructed to organize “Bazm-e-Adab” on the last working day of every week.
After the literary session, the last three periods of the day will be reserved for staff meetings and completion of registers.
The notification further states that in case of a shortage of teachers or long leave, school heads and expert teachers of the relevant subjects will take classes themselves.
All district education officers have been instructed to ensure strict implementation of the new working hours.
