LAHORE: Amid persistent extreme weather conditions throughout the province, the Punjab government has decided to prolong the summer holiday period for non-formal educational institutions.
As per an official notification released by the Directorate General of Literacy and Non-Formal Basic Education, the closure will now remain in place until June 30, 2026.
This instruction covers Non-Formal Basic Education Schools (NFBEs), Non-Formal Education (NFE) schools, and the institutions that run under the GPE TALEEM Program all across Punjab.
The move has been made considering the weather situation that is still ongoing, and also in line with the relevant clauses laid out in the respective project frameworks.
Officials told all related departments and concerned institutions to strictly follow the updated timetable without any exception.
This extension is being described as a protective measure to safeguard the safety and overall well-being of students, teachers, and staff members as the intense heat wave continues to affect various areas of the province.
