Schools to remain closed tomorrow in Lower Dir

Lower Dir: Due to the extreme cold, the local government has announced that all Lower Dir schools will be closed on March 5.  In the meantime, Kurram’s educational institutions will likewise close for three days starting right now.

Deputy Commissioner has decided to close the schools in upper and central Kurram for three days. There has been a notification released to this effect. Thousands of schools were closed due to the over 30 fatal rain-related incidents that occurred in Pakistan amid days of intense rainfall.

In many parts of the nation, serious disruptions have resulted from widespread, heavy rain since Thursday. One such place is Balochistan province, where all schools have been closed till Thursday. Building collapses in northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province claimed the lives of 26 people, including 18 children.

According to Taimur Ali Khan, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s spokesperson, “a total of 27 individuals have lost their lives as a result of continuous rainfall over the past four days in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.” Over 150 dwellings were damaged and one more person lost their life in a landslide.

According to Jahanzain Khan, the chief of the disaster management organization, five people were killed when buildings fell on Thursday and Friday in the southern province of Balochistan. Major routes were blocked in Gilgit-Baltistan, while damaged roads, floods, and landslides have isolated villages in Balochistan from major towns, according to local media.
