KARACHI: The Sindh Education Department has announced that educational institutions across the province will remain closed on February 14 (Friday) due to Shab-e-Barat, which falls on the 15th night of the ongoing Islamic month of Shaban.
According to a notification issued by the Education Department, all government and private educational institutions under the administrative control of the School Education and Literacy Department will remain closed on February 14.
The holiday has been announced in accordance with the decisions of the Sindh sub-committee of the Steering Committee for Education.
Shab-e-Barat is the holiest night between 14 and 15 Shaban, which Muslims observe to seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty.
Special religious gatherings will be held across the country and people will also visit graveyards to recite Fateha on the graves of their loved ones.
Muslims around the world celebrate the night of 15 Shaban with religious fervor as they offer special prayers and offer nawafil prayers in mosques.
