Sindh govt to install CCTV cameras in Karachi colleges amid security reasons

KP health dept to Install CCTV cameras in public offices

KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to take a proactive approach to ensuring the safety and security of students and staff in government colleges in Karachi.

Amid rising security concerns and incidents of theft, the Directorate of College Education Karachi Region has advised the principals to install CCTV cameras inside and outside college boundaries.

The move aims to provide foolproof security for assets worth crores of rupees, such as students and staff; it would help law enforcement agencies analyze and review the event in case of an unfortunate incident.

The CCTV installation is indeed a big stepping stone in terms of security in Karachi colleges. This development comes after the authorities in Karachi have blacklisted 110 house maids with criminal records, emphasizing that there is a need for intensified vigilance and security measures in the city.

The list of blacklisted domestic workers has photographs, their mobile numbers, and their addresses, which is a word of caution to the inhabitants of Karachi as regards who they can hire.

Quite interestingly, the Sindh government has also been considering other projects to improve security in the place, like the Safe City project which proposes the installation of surveillance cameras at various locations, including toll plazas and key government buildings.

Such ventures prove that the government is very committed towards making sure that security and safety concerns of the citizens are addressed, and what will be more interesting is to see the impact of these developments on the whole security arrangement in Karachi.
