Sindh introduces Modern Watermarking System to ensure exam transparency

KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to implement a modern watermarking system to prevent cheating in examinations. In Karachi, all papers of class 9 and only 2 papers of matriculation will be conducted through e-marking.

According to the details, the Sindh government has decided to take revolutionary measures to maintain transparency in examinations and prevent cheating.

A high-level meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Universities and Education Boards Muhammad Ismail Rahu reviewed the preparations for the new academic year’s examinations in detail.

Ismail Rahu announced that a modern watermarking system is being implemented on examination papers this year, with the help of which the person or center who leaked the paper can be immediately traced.

Sukkur and Shaheed Benazirabad divisions will conduct all examinations under e-marking, while Larkana Board will conduct 8 papers from class 9 to 12 and all papers of class 9 and only 2 papers of matriculation in Karachi will be conducted through e-marking.

The Minister for Education Boards Sindh said that in view of the current situation, the examinations will be held across Sindh on their scheduled dates.

Muhammad Ismail Rahu said that 13,53,258 students of classes 9 to 12 will take part in the examinations across Sindh from April 7 next month, for which more than 1,600 examination centers have been established across Sindh.

He said that in Karachi, the examinations for classes 11 to 12 will start on April 25 and those for classes 9 to 10 from April 7, while in Saskatchewan division, the examinations for classes 9 to 10 will start on March 30, and those for classes 11 to 12 from April 15.

The Minister for Education Boards Sindh said that a ban on bringing mobile phones to all examination centers will be imposed, and Section 144 will be imposed in the centers.

The provincial minister directed that the provision of clean drinking water, furniture and electricity should be ensured in the examination centers.

He directed K-Electric, HESCO and SEPCO to write letters so that load shedding does not occur during the exams. However, a special provincial complaint cell has also been established in the office of the secretaries of boards to redress complaints.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Universities Abbas Baloch and the chairmen of all educational boards, to whom Ismail Rahu categorically said that if any paper is leaked anywhere, strict disciplinary action will be taken against the concerned board chairman.
