LAHORE: Rising temperatures over the next three months, together with the expected 2026 Eid al-Adha holidays, created expectations for Punjab schools to begin their summer vacation schedule before the official start date.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a circular to the relevant departments regarding the weather situation for the next three months.
The May 2026, June 2026, and July 2026 periods will experience above-normal rainfall together with high temperatures, according to the PDMA report.
The PDMA report indicates that northern and northwestern Punjab will receive above-normal rainfall while eastern Punjab will experience slightly below-normal rainfall.
The central Punjab region is anticipated to receive typical rainfall amounts. The authority issued a warning that all areas in Punjab will face heatwave conditions, together with higher temperature levels, from May 7 to May 11. The temperature throughout May will exceed normal levels in all areas of Punjab.
