ISLAMABAD: A young Pakistani student Zujajah Shaikh from Islamabad has won the Bronze Award in “The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition (QCEC) 2021” organised by the British Royal Commonwealth Society.
The story penned down by Zujajah Shaikh on topic “Earthlings” with the theme: “It’s been 30 years since the end of Covid-19 pandemic. How does the world look like?” The story revolves round the Covid-19 pandemic-the world faced all around, affected all aspects of daily life and the responsibilities of mankind.
The message given by the writer is “What you are doing to your Mother Earth? In a parallel universe, you might be happier but I don’t think there will be Planet-B for you.
On winning the award, Zujajah expressed gratitude and pride and said the competition over 25,648 contestants around the globe is itself an honour and winning an award is a milestone achievement.
I got extremely happy and excited once I received the message from QCEC: ” We are delightful to inform you that your entry was given the Bronze Award. We encourage you to expressing your ideas through writing and harnessing the power that your voice holds within your immediate and global community. Remember, you can be the change, You Wish to see. So please continue to write for a better world”.
It is also remarkable that Zujajah Shaikh had represented Pakistan among 1000 Asian Students in AFS Intercultural Program Japan 2020 known as Asia Kakehashi Program. She is also a member of UNO Women Awareness Program.
