TEHRAN: Iran has announced that it will not target neighboring countries in the context of the current tense situation, saying that it will not target its neighboring countries.
Iranian President Masoud Peshkeshian said in an important policy statement that the Interim Leadership Council has decided that no attack or missile action against neighboring countries will be approved. He said that Iran has no hostile intentions towards its neighboring countries and if any neighboring country has been concerned by the current situation, Iran regrets it.
He said that Iran has always been a supporter of peace, stability and cooperation in the region and this policy will be continued. According to the Iranian President, despite the current tension, Iran will continue diplomatic efforts to improve relations with the countries of the region and eliminate misunderstandings.
Iranian President Masoud Peshkeshian also emphasized that mediation efforts to end the current war situation should be made by the countries that gave rise to this conflict.
He said that some countries have already started mediation efforts in this regard and Iran considers these diplomatic steps as positive developments.
He added that Iran is serious about establishing peace in the region and is ready to take all possible diplomatic steps to reduce tensions. However, he made it clear that if Iran’s territory, sovereignty or national dignity is threatened, the country will take all possible measures to defend itself.
