BANNU: At least seven people were martyred and three others injured in two successive explosions in the Burghanto area within the limits of Ahmadzai Police Station in Bannu, police said.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Yasir Afridi, the first explosion occurred near a Datsun vehicle carrying passengers. A second blast took place during rescue and response activities at the scene, causing further casualties.
The DPO said seven people were martyred on the spot, while three others sustained injuries in the explosions.
The bodies of the deceased were shifted to Rural Health Centre (RHC) Domail, while the injured were taken to Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital for medical treatment.
Local sources said the Datsun was carrying members of the Hathikhel tribe who were travelling towards Bannu city when the incident occurred.
Following the explosions, security agencies and law enforcement personnel reached the site and launched an investigation. Authorities are collecting evidence to determine the nature and circumstances of the blasts.
