LAHORE: In a groundbreaking move, the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, has granted principal approval for the establishment of thalassemia centers in each division of the province.
The announcement was made during a meeting of the Department of Health and Population Welfare. At the beginning of the meeting, the Chief Minister congratulated the meeting participants on Operation Bunyan Marsoos (Solid Structure).
“The success of Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos has provided the nation with new confidence and generated a new spirit of national unity,” Maryam Nawaz declared.
The Chief Minister remarked on the contributions of the country’s former Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, to national security, saying, “Nawaz Sharif made the country unconquerable through the nuclear tests.”
During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz requested a comprehensive plan to ensure the provision of quality blood for patients across Punjab. Aside from approving thalassemia centers in every division, the provincial government also made a policy decision on creating an effective central monitoring system for healthcare services.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to complete the establishment of revamped hospitals as soon as possible, stressing the importance of timely healthcare intervention across the province.
