Sindh confirms first monkeypox case in Karachi

KARACHI: Health department sources have revealed that the first confirmed case of monkeypox has been reported in Sindh, with a patient diagnosed in Karachi.

According to officials, the infected person was admitted to Jinnah Hospital, and his samples were sent to Dow Hospital for laboratory testing, which confirmed the presence of the virus.

The 28-year-old patient, a resident of Shah Latif Town, has been kept in an isolation ward and strict precautions have been implemented. Health officials revealed that the patient’s wife had a recent history of foreign travel and initially showed symptoms before the virus spread.

This is the first officially confirmed case of monkeypox in Sindh, which has raised concerns among health officials about more cases. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and urging the public to follow precautionary instructions to prevent the spread of the disease.
