ISLAMABAD: On World Cancer Day today, Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre took to her Instagram handle to open up about the life-threatening health scare in reference to her experience. The actress was diagnosed with metastatic cancer in 2018, and ever since then, she has been vocal about her struggle with the disease on social media.
Sharing a video featuring her loved ones, she wrote in a post, “They are not ‘just’ people fighting cancer… they are so much more. Yes, cancer is life-altering but not life-defining.”
“Help the people you know through a not-so-easy phase of their lives by giving them hope and the comfort they need! For everyone else, please listen to your body and do regular check-ups because early detection always helps #WorldCancerDay.”
As soon as she shared the post, Sonali’s close friends from the industry rushed to the comment section and showered her with love. This included Twinkle Khanna who dropped a red heart emoji for her. Sussanne Khan commented, “N we call you warrior princess ❤️❤️🔥🔥🙌🙌🙌with the bravest heart! 💪🏻💪🏻”. Others like Tahira Kashyap, Neelam Kothari, Patralekhaa and Shweta Bachchan among many more sent the actress love and strength.
Apart from Sonali, several other Bollywood celebrities have also shared posts to mark World Cancer Day. One of them is Ayushmann Khurrana’s wife and filmmaker, author Tahira Kashyap who dropped a reel video highlighting the misconceptions about breast cancer. Through her awareness post, she also talked about ideal measures that one should take if diagnosed with the condition.
