LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to issue new number plates for vehicles at the official level in the province. Which will include modern security features.
According to officials, the new number plates will be linked to a modern data-based system while an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) chip will also be installed in them. With the help of this chip, complete information about the vehicle can be obtained immediately, while the record of the vehicle and the owner will also be revealed through scanning.
The provincial government hopes that this new system will make it easier for law enforcement agencies to check and verify vehicles. Officials say that the aim of this move is to ensure better implementation of traffic laws, reduce accidents and prevent illegal transportation throughout Punjab, including Lahore.
It should be noted that the issuance of official number plates was stopped in Punjab from April 2024. And vehicle owners were allowed to get number plates from the market. However, now the provincial government has decided to introduce a modern and secure system.
