PESHAWAR: In a strategic move, Pashtunkhawa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai has withdrew his nomination papers for NA 265 Pishin, throwing his support behind Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Achakzai’s decision to withdraw from the election in favor of Maulana Fazlur Rehman was made public by PkMAP on Friday.

This action is being taken in conjunction with Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s first-ever election campaign in Balochistan, where she is running for a National Assembly seat.
Political commentators interpret Achakzai’s withdrawal as a calculated move meant to strengthen Maulana Fazl’s candidacy in the next elections.
This adds an intriguing wrinkle to the changing political environment, as today is the final day for candidates to withdraw their candidacy papers for the general elections set for February 8.
