TEHRAN: Iran has issued a stern warning to Israel, saying that it may face a severe response if military operations and ceasefire violations continue in southern Lebanon.
A statement issued by the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the central command of the Iranian armed forces, said that Israeli forces have allegedly violated the ceasefire 84 times in southern Lebanon over the past two days.
According to Iranian officials, these operations have resulted in the loss of civilian lives, which has further increased the already existing tension in the region.
The statement said that claims of a ceasefire and a reduction in tension are being made at the global level, however, the facts on the ground are the opposite, Israeli military operations are still ongoing and there is no significant improvement in the situation in southern Lebanon.
The Iranian military spokesman made it clear that if Israel maintains its current policy and does not stop military activities in Lebanon, the Iranian armed forces are fully capable of giving an appropriate and effective response, and any kind of aggression or unilateral action in the region will not be tolerated.
Defense experts say that this latest statement by Iran has made the situation in the Middle East more sensitive, and if immediate diplomatic steps are not taken to reduce tensions, fears of a new crisis in the region may increase.
