Myanmar military airstrike on hospital kills 31

YANGON: Myanmar’s military launched an airstrike on a hospital in the western Rakhine state city of Mrauk U, killing 31 people and injuring 68 others, according to rescue officials. The injured have been transferred to medical facilities, and authorities fear the death toll could rise further.

The attack comes amid ongoing conflict in Myanmar, which has been engulfed in a severe civil war since the military seized power in a coup in 2021.

Meanwhile, the military has announced elections scheduled for December 28. Pro-democracy and rebel groups, however, are boycotting the process, citing the ongoing political turmoil and lack of legitimate governance.
