ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has taken a bold step by beginning to monitor all flights coming in from the west, including those from Iran.
Iran’s entry into Balochistan, which resulted in the deaths of two children, has damaged relations between Pakistan and Iran.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has sources that indicate all relevant agencies are on high alert and that air traffic from the western border is currently being closely monitored.
Air Traffic Control (ATC) has been instructed to carefully record all arriving aircraft from the western side, according to sources with the CAA. This is the first time that such a comprehensive surveillance has been carried out.
There has never been an order to block airspace for flights coming from Iran, even though the airspace over Pakistan and Iran is still available to commercial aircraft.
The fact that there is more vigilance and surveillance in place shows how committed Pakistani authorities are to ensuring the security and safety of air travel.
