PCB named Azhar Mahmood as head coach for New Zealand T20Is

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named former Pakistan fast bowler Azhar Mahmood as the head coach of the Pakistan men’s cricket team for the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand.

The matches scheduled from April 18 to 27 will be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore.

Azhar represented Pakistan in 164 internationals, taking 162 wickets and scoring 2,421 runs. Azhar’s previous assignment with the Pakistan men’s cricket team was from 2016 to 2019 when he was the bowling coach, PCB said in a press release on Monday.

Other than the head coach, Mohammad Yousuf will be the batting coach and Saeed Ajmal will continue his services as the spin bowling coach of the Pakistan team for the New Zealand home series. Wahab Riaz has been appointed as the senior team manager with Mansoor Rana as team manager.

“Meanwhile, the Pakistan cricket team for the New Zealand series will be announced on Tuesday, April 9, at 12:45 in the media conference room at the Gaddafi Stadium,” the statement reads.
