LAHORE: Central Punjab’s cities, including Lahore, have been engulfed in dense fog, which has made visibility difficult, caused accidents, and complicated navigation.
Many areas of the motorway were closed to traffic due to the intense fog. Residents claim that in many locations, even fog lights are useless.

In the early hours of Thursday, a large accident near Chungi No 5 in Jhelum was caused by dense fog on the Grand Trunk (GT) Road, resulting in thirty injuries.
Ten or so cars crashed into one another as the fog reduced visibility to nearly nothing.
After being notified, police and rescue personnel arrived at the scene and took the injured to the hospital. Rescue sources reported that five of the injured were critically ill.

In another instance, a car carrying a family travelling to Lahore from Narowal fell into a nullah in Chungi Amar Sadhu, leading to one person being killed.
Rescue 1122’s director general appealed to the public to be punctual as hurrying on roads led to many accidents. He also said that people should pause their commute in case of dense fog instead of trying to push through.
The DG added that the fog also posed the problem of inaccessibility for the rescue vehicles, who would be unable to reach the site of the accident on time.
