Dhaka: Bangladesh cricket team captain Shakib Al Hasan has announced to contest the elections.
According to a foreign media news agency, Bangladesh cricket team captain Shakib Al Hasan will participate in the elections on the ticket of Prime Minister Hasina Wajid’s ruling party Awami League.
Shakib Al Hasan will contest from his native district Magura-1 constituency in the elections to be held on January 7.
Shakib Al Hasan is currently on rest due to an injury sustained during the match against Sri Lanka in the World Cup and is unlikely to make an immediate return to the team.

It should be noted that before Shakib Al Hasan, former Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza was elected as a member of parliament in the last elections.
